How is our Atmosphere constructed?

Our Atmosphere is divided into different sections as follows:

– the Troposphere

→ Sea Level to ~ 20.000 ft at the poles and to ~65.000 ft (where most flying takes place and where weather develops)
-> temperature decreases with height.

– Tropopause at 36.000 ft

– Stratosphere

→ 66.000 ft to 160.000 ft (some flying takes place at the lower levels of this level; weather is not a factor here anymore
temperature becomes slightly warmer again towards the end of this layer)

– Stratopause

→ air cools down again

– Thermosphere

→  air gradually warms again to above 0 degrees Celsius.
